Owing to our ever-growing back library of stock we now host our galleries with Zenfolio. Click the Zenfolio button below to link to our "just dogs" showcase or to find photographs from your own event or commission in our "archive":
Our passion for dog photography grew from an academic interest in all things canine. David's postgraduate (M.Sc) and doctoral work took him to North America to radio-track wolves and then to Europe and Asia to study the social hierarchy of feral dog populations. Although ethology (animal behaviour in the natural environment) was David's main focus of study, applied canid biomechanics (the way dogs move) is a constant source of interest and fascination.

As you can see from the examples below, we love taking action photos of dogs! As well as being quite technically challenging it is also immense fun; moreover it helps to contextualise your dog doing what he loves best. Most of the events and private commissions we undertake will capture a blend of action and static shots.
However, if its portraiture you're after, you'll see that we're not bad at that either! We like to shoot in a variety of styles, so take a look at some of our other recent stuff .
Airbrushing: has become a bit of a generic term for "re-touching" photographs. It is a useful technique for removing unwanted elements from a picture such as handlers, leads, saliva, litter etc. The possibilities are almost endless but clients most commonly require some minor work to turn a less than perfect shot into an image that can be proudly dispalyed in the yearbook. By way of example, look at the difference between the before and after shot below in which the handlers and lead have been removed and the contrast corrected:
Studio: we have our own studio in Edinburgh as well as mobile studio facilities should they be required. We offer a relaxed environment which puts you and your dog at comfort, thus getting the best from the session.
Publications: Preparation of your image for final output to magazine, yearbook or whatever, we have a great deal of experience working alone or with your photo/print editor to ensure an amazing final product!
Montage: this technique gives you the best of all worlds in one picture. By taking multiple shots and morphing them together it is a wonderful way to capture the essence of your dog(s), and works especially well for combining head studies with action shots:
